Good Day Everyone,

To start off the week I first want to congratulate the new cast from Phantom of the Opera. What a great show! I had the opportunity to have seen it this past weekend. Anyways, my trip down Hollywood and past Sunset to arrive at the famous Pantages Theatre again showered with glimpses from Shephard Fairey and his now famous HOPE creation. Hollywood and Sunset is known for its outlandish and creative design posters that have been plastered on its legendary walls. For your enjoyement here are a few of Hollywood's great designs. As always Hollywood and Sunset continues to inspire graphic designers like myself to continue creating visually stunning designs that draw the human eye to them. Hollywood and Sunset in my opinion is considered one of the design capital of the world offering the sights and sounds of new talent as well talent in the graphic design field. Just one thing to say: Continue to inspire us Hollywood and we will continue to create. Below are a few of Hollywood's famous designs:

We Salute a Design Genius
With the inauguration tomorrow I want to stop and reflect on the many designers out there that have shared their talent with us to support Obama. One such artist is named Shepard Fairey. What a captivating design. His HOPE t-shirt has become a symbol of our next President. I have struggled to find this t-shirt online to purchase but they are flying like hot cakes. This t-shirt has gained media attention that they recently inducted his t-shirt into the Smithsonian archival gallery. I am not surprised at all. The colors work almost harmoniously with each other and Obama's picture adds to the impact of his HOPE message. As a designer, I salute Shepard as a design genius. He has combined the right colors in the right places, an idea described in our
Art 468 textbook by author Tufte titled Envisioning Information. Great job Shepard
Fairey. By the way, does anyone know where I can find this t-shirt.

We Welcome President Obama

Good Day Everyone,
one must think that tomorrow is just another ordinary day but for some people like me it is one historical day. We welcome a new president to the United States. In my opinion it is a much needed change we need for our country. With our economy in peril to the unending war in Iraq it is much needed. We have taken eight years of Bush and his failed policies. Don't agree? Look at the many people losing jobs every minute. For graphic designers like myself I want to know that I will still have a design job in the near future. I want to know that their is hope for my creative ideas and design intentions. I believe Obama will bring us the much needed change that our broken and divided country needs. This weekend I found out that Circuit City is going out of business. Just think of all those poor people losing their job at Circuit City. Tomorrow is a new day for me. I don't know about you guys but I feel like celebrating. Good Day everyone and lets hope for the future.
